JANET C. SMITH

Janet C. Smith joined the Gachassin Law Firm in 2006 with seven years of health care law experience. She is a registered nurse with over nine years of experience, primarily in obstetrics. Janet practiced medical malpractice defense with a large professional liability insurance company where she defended physicians and provided risk management advice. She also worked for a major non-profit health care organization where she focused on loss prevention.

Prior to jointing the Gachassin Law Firm, she was an administrative law judge with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals where she presided over hearings regarding provider reimbursement, licensing issues, fines, recoupment and withholding of funds.
